Certification of documents is the certification of an original document, or of a notarized copy of a document at various public institutions and certification of legalized documents at consular offices of foreign countries in the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as the certification of the translator's signature.

Legalization of documents is the affixing of an Apostille at the Ministry of Justice and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the certified documents issued in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The price of the legalized document is formed as a sum of the translation costs, the state fees for certification and Apostille affixing charged by the relevant institution and a courier’s fee.

The terms for legalization of documents vary within the range from 1 to 15 business days depending on the document, as education documents are legalized within the longest terms.

Documents intended for use abroad are issued in accordance with the bilateral agreements between the countries and The Rules and Regulations on Legalizations, Certifications and Translations of Documents and Other Papers issued by the Consular Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
